Recognizing the changing nature of the Finance function to meet our stakeholders needs, manage risk and drive profitable growth, Unum Finance is launching a large-scale transformation effort. This role will be heavily involved in supporting our vision to ignite the change by bringing people, processes, and data together to deliver trusted insights that drive Unum's growth and enable us to protect more families, their finances, and their futures.

The Finance Transformation Consultant is responsible for proactive identification, assessment, and delivery of technology processes improvement opportunities with the goal of achieving a superior experience for Finance professionals and business partners. These digital solutions will improve efficiency, mitigate risk, enhance insight & analysis and/or increase the employee and partner experience. The role will be considered a subject matter expert in process analysis and transformation solutioning and will leverage strong business and technology skills to influence and drive change. They will ensure that solutions being considered align with the strategic direction of the company and are of high quality and will result in a significant value creation for the assigned functional area. The individual, along with leadership, will be responsible for the achievement of the goals and objectives of the assigned projects.

The role will rely heavily on extensive finance technical and analytical skills to independently leverage technology and data to communicate recommendations and influence buy-in to all levels of leadership and execute on delivery of solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Play a leadership role in technology and process assessment of an assigned Finance functional area and present recommendations on initiatives, product design and delivery to varying levels of leadership and Finance product owners.
• Establishes strong, effective and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, project managers and subject matter experts to identify specific business opportunities or to address business needs or problems and help build effective solutions.
• In close partnership with Finance product owners, provide direct input into initiative strategy and Finance product discovery, design and development for the assigned functional area to ensure that solutions align with company strategy and will have a significant impact on Finance’s value delivery, partnership engagement and contribution to Enterprise Transformation goals.
• Create business plans for assigned projects including accurate financial cost benefit modeling.
• Simplify and reimagine processes to create transformational experiences through digital assets
• Design digital solutions that align with strategic objectives, support business goals and delivery efficiency gains to reduce costs to operational areas while improving the experience for our customers.
• Acts as a champion of change leading organizations through digital oriented transformations and continuously research emerging trends in digital technology solutions.
• Independently conduct complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of existing internal processes to recommend and influence actions and recommendations.
• Understands Finance professional and business partner needs; identifies opportunities through surveys, interviews and focus groups. Will leverage digital based technology solutions to improve business performance, employee experience and partner satisfaction
• Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the Finance functional area of assignment as well having a broader understanding of other functional areas.
• Lead mid to larger sized projects with a focus on utilizing data driven analysis to drive outcomes that will improve customer experience and operational readiness for digital solutions.
• Proactively identify learning opportunities to increase both technical and operational knowledge of the industry and company.
• Mentor lower-level transformational specialists.
• Exercises creativity and resourcefulness in solving technical problems in a way that maximizes the customer experience and improves operational efficiencies

Job Specifications

• Bachelors degree, or equivalent relevant business experience.
• Finance or actuarial professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA, FSA) preferred
• 5-6+ years of experience delivering value through problem solving, analytics, and/or digital assets, or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience in a leadership role for implementing digital solutions in a rapidly changing agile environment.
• Building employee enthusiasms as a result of reducing repetitive tasks and empowering teams to solve challenging business problems.
• Be an outstanding storyteller and influential voice among business partners, advocating for Finance professional and partner needs.
• Strong business, financial and digital acumen.
• Results oriented with strong people, leadership and change management skills.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking ability.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to be able to balance multiple competing priorities.
• Experience delivering data and/or digital based solutions that have a direct impact on customer experience.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$86,400.00-$168,500.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including performance-based incentives, healthcare benefits, insurance benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual plans.
