Director of Information Technology

Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) strives to promote responsible seafood production through education, advocacy and demonstration.

GSA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification is the world’s most trusted, comprehensive and proven third-party aquaculture certification program. Through the BAP certification program, we have improved the environmental, social and economic performance of the aquaculture supply chain and grown the global supply of responsibly farmed seafood. To complement the BAP program, in 2021 we launched GSA’s Best Seafood Practices (BSP) to further strengthen and improve responsible practices in wild caught seafood and provide consumer assurance across the entire global seafood production chain.

GSA is seeking a Director of Information Technology (IT).

Reporting to the Chief Systems Officer, the Director of IT is primarily responsible for the company’s technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, enterprise systems and technology support employees. The incumbent will lead the IT business function, strategy, and its personnel to enable digital transformation and to scale for future growth, including new and evolving systems, process and system improvements, data management, reporting & analysis, and vendor management to ensure excellence in the internal and external customer experience. This broad reaching and critical role is a unique opportunity to help define and lead GSA’s technology team and strategy into the future.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the full operational management and strategic planning for technology infrastructure, information system assets, data management, and security.

· Engage, build, and partner with GSA’s executive team, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure alignment with current and long-term business objectives.

· Identify and assess opportunities for appropriate, cost-effective investments in IT systems and resources, including staffing and sourcing.

· Evaluate current processes and workflows and recommend new solutions (process changes, new software, or new ways of using existing software) to improve operational efficiency and the customer experience.

· Optimize the IT business function to balance resources/projects to meet current and future demand.

· Provide expertise and leadership in the selection and management of external technology vendors, consultants, contractors, and service providers.

· Proactively seek input from internal constituents about their technology needs, support the selection and adoption of technology-based solutions, and ensure all solutions are in line with GSA’s strategy.

· Manage the IT budget within set parameters and make recommendations that have significant positive budgetary impact.

· Build and maintain an IT roadmap as it relates to core technologies, systems, infrastructure, and investments across the enterprise.

· Remain current on emerging technologies that support responsible seafood, responsible supply chains, CRM, process improvement, and organizational performance.

· Represent GSA at industry or technology-specific conferences and events.

Requirements:

· Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems.

· Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team including coaching, learning and development, and performance management experience.

· Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate communications, objectives, and tasks between internal and external resources.

· Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to understand challenges and issues, and to encourage and foster creative problem-solving between operational and support teams.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts, systems, technologies, and strategies to non-technical audiences.

· Excellent analytical and decision-making skills

· Experience leading software development projects and teams.

· Experience developing and managing customer-facing web applications.

· Proficient in contract negotiations, contract maintenance, and vendor management.

· Demonstrated strategic planning experience as it relates to IT.

· Experience with Dynamics 365, Dynamics GP, Hubspot, or comparable systems preferred.

· Knowledge of data management, payments processing, networking and systems infrastructure, process and continuous improvement, and business analytics.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent engineering, business, or technology-related field.

· Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible IT leadership working in IT operations, supervising technology teams, and overseeing large information technology projects.
