LOCATION: Kansas City, MO, St. Louis, MO, Houston, TX or Nashville, TN offices

SCHEDULE: M-F 8:30-5:00 (Hybrid; 2-3 days per week in office)


POSITION SUMMARY


The Librarian is a full-time, non-exempt position based in our Kansas City, St. Louis, Houston, or Nashville offices. This position is responsible for providing in-depth research and critical analysis on legal matters. The role requires a confident, professional individual with exceptional communication skills and the ability to find the right answers effectively. This individual must have the ability to communicate complex legal and technical research in a user-friendly format. This position will work on a team of three reporting to the Director of Research in the Kansas City office and will support all firm locations. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Conduct in-depth research and critical analysis as requested. In providing these services, one will evaluate the complexity of the request, available resources and financial restraints
  • Perform cite checking duties on briefs requested by attorneys and staff
  • Capture/catalog reference information for future research requests
  • Act as one of the resident experts in use of Westlaw and other research platforms, ensuring that databases are functioning as expected
  • Coordinate/organize training sessions on firm research applications and resources
  • Manage and track online and print publications firm-wide
  • Assist with the administration of multiple vendor accounts for multiple offices, including password management
  • Perform quality review research of all new firm clients
  • Assist with firm Intranet updating/editing for the department
  • Act as point of contact for vendor account management within the department
  • Identifies, evaluates, and demonstrates relevant new technologies, particularly law office and legal practice applications
  • Work with other departments on projects as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS


  • 4-year undergraduate degree required
  • 2-4+ years working in a professional environment; experience in a law firm is a plus
  • Experience using research platforms and databases such as Westlaw is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to develop strong working rapport with others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, and proactive business style essential
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent customer service, time management, and organizational skills


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve the need for inter-office mobility for brief periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs.
  • Ability to efficiently communicate
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions required
  • Ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print
