Licking County Planning & Development
Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week with a typical 4-day work week schedule
Salary: $19.78 - $24.18 per hour, depending on qualifications
Duties:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field is preferred.

The Assistant Planner position is an entry level position that requires a basic understanding of planning principles. As part of our team the Assistant Planner provides support to the senior planning staff on a variety of projects, with varying levels of ownership. In addition, the Assistant Planner will have a focus on customer service.
The job duties include executing and supporting assigned planning tasks which may include research of best practices, data collection, analysis, visualization, plan review, site inspections, and investigations, and report writing. This position may also assist in formulating comprehensive and functional land use plans/studies and countywide plan work.
The ideal candidate will possess the following: excellent written & verbal communication skills (reports, regulations, note-taking, etc.); proficiency in GIS (ArcMap, Web Maps, etc.); a cursory knowledge of construction and development terms, methods, and practices; the ability to maintain complete, accurate, and organized records; a basic knowledge of land planning principles and tools; ability to research, collect data, and apply information; and strong interpersonal skills with a respectful attitude for fostering positive interaction with various customers, property owners, and staff.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in the following areas: Adobe Creative Suite; regulatory documents (i.e. zoning, subdivision, stormwater, floodplain); assisting local communities, boards and committees; interaction with residents, property owners and business leaders.
