Job Description:

We are seeking a Vice President of Operations in the Salt Lake City area (onsite). The Vice President of Operations manages activities related to procurement, global material planning, manufacturing engineering, contract manufacturing, manufacturing test engineering, warehousing/material control, logistics, document control, new product introduction, product returns, and quality assurance.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain product cost objectives through strategic sourcing, supplier management, and pricing negotiation.
  • Drive contracting activities (domestic and offshore) for component and manufacturing service sourcing. Duties include but are not limited to supplier selection and supplier qualification
  • Support cross-functional teams on New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives
  • Drive results through pro-active management with a particular emphasis on quality, price, delivery and service.
  • Work in close cooperation with Sales, Finance, and Product Management to develop and manage forecasts for long range supply planning while considering current inventory, lead times and product cost
  • Provide guidance & leadership to manufacturing engineering, manufacturing test engineering, and manufacturing process improvement.
  • Manage Contract Manufacturers (CM) regarding production delivery schedules, production costs, NPI planning and scheduling, and product quality.
  • Train and motivate members of the Operations team to implement process improvements, cycle time reductions, and quality improvements using data driven methodologies.
  • Champion organizational personnel development, training and continuous improvement
  • Emphasize, maintain, and improve documentation control policies and procedures.
  • Oversee stringent material and inventory control policies and procedures in support of sound warehouse management.
  • Exhibit sound leadership principles to promote strong teamwork and individual accomplishments.
  • Support the Senior Management Team and provide expertise and guidance from an operations perspective as required.


Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of Operations Management experience in a high-tech electronics manufacturing environment
  • BS Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful negotiation of vendor contracts and purchase orders.
  • Extensive experience with New Product Introduction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and automated document control systems
  • An assertive, energetic, and highly motivated individual who requires limited direction and who thrives in a fast-paced environment is required for this position.
  • Manufacturing experience must include Surface Mount Assembly (SMA), circuit testing, manufacturing functional testing and box builds
  • Strong knowledge and background in supply chain management
  • Experience in implementing quality assurance, root cause analysis, Six-sigma, and Lean methodologies desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.
  • Experience must include forecasting and planning processes.
