U.S. Truss Company is looking for a quality individual with a strong work-ethic and positive attitude to add to our committed assembly team. Maintaining predictable and regular attendance is essential for this position. Under direct supervision, oversees the operation and production of a number of saw types producing materials and parts for assembly into a variety of wood based components.
Starting pay rate of $17.00/hour, minimum.
Responsibilities of Position (Includes, but not limited to the following)
- In-feeds lumber into saw and provides project-specific direction for sawing activities on a variety of sawing equipment; typically, these are standard set up, relatively routine projects.
- Makes angle and length adjustment to cutting equipment to produce parts on cutting list or batch specifications, ensuring accuracy of cuts.
- Plans and assigns work tasks in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related production goals.
- Develops saw skills and experience on different types of saws in order to increase own versatility and productivity for component production.
- May perform minor adjustments to saws.
- Stacks cut lumber after processing.
- Adheres to OSHA requirements and company safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; and,
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Knowledge of and ability to use motorized lumber handling and sawing equipment.
- Manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of safety procedures while performing lumber handling and sawing tasks.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints.
- Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools.
Work Environment / Physical Activity
The work environment and physical activity described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
- Ability to work on foot for 8-10 hour shifts
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
- May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling.
