These are part-time positions that will work no more than 39 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits. Part-time positions may have routine or variable work schedules and may require working weekends and holidays.

Our Recreation Division operates 30 recreation centers offering affordable facilities, programs and activities to residents and visitors year-round. Our recreation centers offer several organized classes including but not limited to: aquatics, arts and crafts, cultural and social activities, fitness and sports, health, special events, tours and more. Our activities are organized for children, youth, adults, people with disabilities, and senior groups for maximum enjoyment. Denver Parks and Recreation is looking to hire Recreation Assistants for their 30 recreation centers located throughout the City and County of Denver. These roles perform a variety of functions in helping our recreation centers run smoothly from clerical to customer service to facility work. This is a true entry level opportunity for first-time employees, as well as individuals looking to make a direct impact in the community.

We are currently hiring for Recreation Assistants at the following recreation centers:
  • Northwest Region: 5090 Broadway, Ashland, Aztlan, Highland Senior, Johnson, Scheitler, Twentieth Street
  • Northeast Region: Carla Madison, Central Park, Glenarm, Green Valley Ranch, Hiawatha Davis, MLK Jr., Montbello, St. Charles, Swansea
  • Southwest Region: Athmar, Barnum, College View, Harvey Park, La Alma, Rude, Southwest
  • Southwest Region: Cook Park, Eisenhower, Harvard Gulch, La Familia, Montclair, Platt Park Senior, Washington Park

Recreation Assistants:
  • Assist with monitoring the day-to-day operations of a recreation center or a specific program area
  • Help with recreation activities such as sports, games, classes, outdoor activities, childcare, and special events
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the recreation center
  • Maintain order amongst participants and spectators, and aim to resolve disputes that arise
  • Assist with the set up and take down of equipment for facility rentals, activities, and special events
  • Assist with front desk operations, which includes greeting customers, answering phone calls and providing customers with membership information
  • By position, assist with keeping and announcing the score of sports activities and maintaining accurate participant records
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Any one position may not include all of the duties listed; however, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Customer Service experience, experience interacting with customers in person or on the phone
  • Experience answering phones
  • Retail experience (using a cash register, taking care of transactions)
  • An ability to work with a diverse group of customers including youth
  • A willingness to learn and excel
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

  • Licensures/Certification(s): Must be at least 14 years of age at the time of application. Requires certification in CPR/First Aid at the time of application or within six months hire date. Licensure and certification must be kept current as a condition of employment
