JOB SUMMARY:

The PDM Administrator / Engineering Document Control is responsible for establishing and maintaining engineering discipline as pertains to SOLIDWORKS-PDM and its interface to ERP, as well as maintenance and administration of the Engineering Change Control Process. This includes review of drawings, ECN management, and establishing methods and systematic procedures for part configuration, naming conventions and correct loading of workflows, drawing references and BOM data into ERP system.

Emphasis will be on areas of configuration management – interfacing directly with product design and improvement teams in multiple facets of the organization, including R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Sales. Success in this role ensures that the business has a sound process for document control, and functional teams have ready access to released.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• PDM management / administration
• Solidworks design / CAD
• Interface with ERP database for BOM load and ensuring that production has correct documentation loaded into shop floor management systems
• Manage ECN workflows, interacting with responsible parties to champion successful closure and implementation of changes
• Control of released drawings to ensure approved / released revisions meet business needs

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Engineering discipline to ensure adequate quality measures are adhered to throughout the design and development cycle
• Mechanical Design for Custom and Semi-custom optoelectronic device assemblies and tooling
• Communication in a team environment
• Organization of technical data / bills of materials, and engineering changes
• Effective database management and implementation of PDM design management tools

EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum five years in a mechanical device engineering discipline
• Engineering degree or five years in an engineering discipline

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export controlled technology. GPD will require proof of status prior to employment.
