Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Manager (Research) in the Clinical Research Center within Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The primary purpose of the CRC Research Nurse Manager position is to serve as an expert in the coordination and conduct of clinical research and to supervise and direct the CRC professional and paraprofessional staff in the performance of clinical research for a minimum of 40 hours/week. Maintains the standards of practice of the Clinical Research Center in the conduct of clinical research within the guidelines of FDA, IRB and GCP regulations. Serves as a preceptor for medical students; pharmacy students and fellows; masters level students and volunteers.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Supervises and directs research nurses, coordinators and research assistants employed within the Clinical Research Center.
  • Serves as staff resource, developing and providing nursing service expertise to research patients, and their families in the management of clinical research trials.
  • Determines priorities of CRC activities in collaboration with the CRC Director and delegates responsibility to those prepared to assume and implement them.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the multidisciplinary research team.
  • Prepares and submits IRB applications, and conducts clinical research studies per protocol requirements as needed.
  • Recommends establishment or revision of policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and develops organizational structure and standard of performance of the paraprofessional and professional staff.
  • Interprets policies and objectives of CRC nursing service to staff.
  • Consults with the CRC Director, to coordinate nursing activities and hospital activities as they relate to collaborative protocol performance.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Five (5) years of research experience.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey,
  • Maintains active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Previous management experience.
