TITLE: Legal Assistant

LOCATION: Remote

PAY CLASSIFICATION: Hourly (rate corresponding to skills and experience)

A. DESCRIPTION

A successful St. Louis-based law firm seeks to expand by hiring a full-time legal assistant As a Legal Assistant, your primary duties are to assist the firm in collection efforts by filing motions with Court, skip tracing Consumers addresses to assist in serving summonses, filing alias summonses with Court, speaking with Consumers regarding their files, following up with Process Servers/Sheriffs regarding service returns and filing those service returns.

B. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• REQUIREMENTS:

o High School Diploma or GED/HiSET

o At least three (3) years of consecutive work experience

o Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook

o Attention to detail and organization

• PREFERRED:

o Previous law firm experience preferred but will train right person

o Work experience relating to consumer and/or commercial collections

o Familiar with the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)

C. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data entry

• Document review

• Answering calls from Clients, Opposing Counsel, court personnel and Consumers

• Filing of motions, service returns and aliases with Court

• Skip tracing for home addresses and places of employment

• Updating information in computer system
