The McLellan is a boutique senior living facility in downtown Brunswick Maine.
We have a large, open, commercial kitchen that feels like a home kitchen and we are looking for a chef to cook for 18-22 seniors, one dinner meal per day, some soups for to-go lunches, birthday celebrations and a few happy hours!
We currently have a part- time chef who works 2 days a week and we are looking for a part-time chef or a full time chef who would like to work the other days a week for the dinner meal and perhaps some additional hours on special functions and lunch.
We can be flexible on work days each week or set them in, whichever works better for the applicant. We are looking for someone that wants to be apart of a small team trying to make a difference for seniors who range in age from 66 to 92. The ideal candidate would be someone who wants to engage with the seniors and be personable, the food is important but not as much as the desire to be part of their lives. The ideal candidate would be someone who can communicate well, is understanding when mistakes happen and a flexible open personality that wants to help other members of the team when he or she can. Yes, this is a cooking position, but it so so much more.
The applicant should be someone with a strong interest to grow and develop their own unique creative flair with food and presentation ideas! It could also be someone with alot of experience that wants a chance to work unencumbered and just to creatively cook and please a small group of wonderful folks with their craft and love of food and the dining experience. Salary/hourly wage would be commensurate with experience, meal quality, organization, prep skills and personal desire to cook and please seniors.
It is essential that the candidate be flexible and willing to help develop the kitchen menus, recipe, policies and procedures and above all understand and support the mission of The McLellan, which essentially is a culture of yes, for both employees and residents and one that focuses on the moments of their lives and our own.
