EMR Project Manager - Full-time- In Office

Service Desk Technician Overview:

The IT Project Manager/Business/EMR Analyst will aid in solving organizational information technology problems by collecting and analyzing business requirements, recommending computer programs, software, hardware, maintaining and documenting system controls, processes and protocols. Job function will be split between new technical solutions and developing/applying improvements to the Electronic Medical Records system. This position will also assist in the maintenance of the computer desktop and server environment by collecting and analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting Jewish Senior Living Group (JSLG) IT Service Desk and Systems Engineering teams.

What you’ll do as a Project Manager:

  • Project Management:

  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Improve systems and processes by researching solutions; designing modifications and providing recommendations.
  • Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements.
  • Design new IT solutions by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and IT team members.
  • Work with IT vendors to source software and/or hardware solutions based on business requirements gathered, and ensure proposed solutions meet the needs of the business community.
  • Monitor project progress and tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; and providing recommended actions.
  • Maintain system protocols and recommend controls; write improved procedures.
  • Provide references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation and training end users.
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by maintaining proper information confidentiality (i.e., adherence to HIPAA guidelines)
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

EMR:

  • Evaluate team requests (e.g., clinical, admissions and social services) on process improvements or system enhancements to the EMR system
  • Work with the hosting vendor(s) to assess feasibility, define requirements, review Statements of Work and manage implementations.
  • Evaluate existing EMR processes, order sets, reporting systems and work with the user base to make incremental improvements to the efficiency of the system
  • Test new features and facilitate roll out of quarterly system updates.
  • Perform thorough user acceptance testing on quarterly EMR upgrades.
  • Coordinate testing findings with both clinical and finance teams for defects identified and new features in the release.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with department heads to help drive adoption of systemic improvements.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with technical resources within the vendor ecosystem
  • Administer myUnity roles
  • Facilitate the development of new curriculums; document curriculum requirements; partner with vendor to develop the curriculum; coordinate trainings with Education team and EMR vendor; produce guidance documentation as needed.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

For you to be a successful EMR Project Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent education/ experience
  • Minimum three years’ recent IT project management experience, traditional waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Current knowledge of project management principles and software
  • Strong knowledge of business software and automation trends
  • IT experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.
  • Recent experience administering EMR systems; clinical background preferred
