The Director, Water Management will be responsible for developing and implementing SSR’s water stewardship strategy in collaboration with the environmental and operations teams and overseeing technical services function for water across SSR’s operations. The technical services will be inclusive of all stages of asset development from early studies thru operations and closure and will encompass, water use/management planning, treatment, infrastructure and mine design, performance monitoring and statutory compliance. The role will also contribute to the development/updating of corporate strategies and policies.
SSR holds sustainability as a core value and the role will be instrumental in achieving SSR’s objectives in responsible and efficient water use within our operations. To achieve this the Director, Water Management will actively identify, scope and implement improvement opportunities via SSR’s operational excellence and innovation programs.
The Day to Day:
  • Develop and implement a consistent approach to water management across SSR’s operations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on water, water treatment and water management for projects, process facilities and operating sites.
  • Design and oversee test work programs, develop new designs and modifications to existing facilities, and guide corporate strategies.
  • Design, implement, and manage technical programs to create environmental processes and systems to support exploration, mine development, and metallurgical process facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance, senior leadership, and mentoring to engineering staff to enhance water management capabilities
  • Support company goals relating to efficiency, economic benefit, and waste and impact minimization.
  • Responsible for scope, schedule, budget development, monitoring and adherence for projects managed
  • Actively identify and implement improvement opportunities across SSR’s operations
  • Provide water management/design support to Project and Study teams to incorporate good water management practice into capital development
  • Pioneer standardization of corporate policy, methods, systems and procedures across the company.
Is This You?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related field, from an accredited university
  • 15+ years’ experience in project management, engineering design, estimating, and start-up/commissioning of drinking water, desalination, and water reuse infrastructure projects
  • Strong track record of delivering improvement programs to increase water use efficiency and environmental impact minimization
  • Strong understanding of water management issue within the mining industry with experience in mine closure and post closure activities
  • Experience in developing water treatment methods that accommodate the chemistry associated with long life heap leach operations
  • Experience with water management and discharge treatment requirement for tailings storage facilities
  • Ability to manage third party service providers to ensure high deliverable quality and alignment with SSR’s standards
  • Willing and available to accommodate intermittent global travel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $160,000 to $210,000
