JOB PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES:
Provide for the satisfaction of customer requirements through booking of customer outbound transportation through the Transport Management System (TMS) for truck and intermodal shipments, as well as coordination of deliveries with customers. Assist the Transportation Manager in the development of new carriers to improve and/or expand the carrier base to well position Imerys Norfolk to cover customer demands while maintaining effective cost effective freight rates.
KEY RESULTS AREAS / PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Primary responsibility for managing and booking packaged transportation based on established selection criteria through the Transport Management System (TMS).
-Delivery coordination with customers on all shipments via van, flatbed, LTL and intermodal ship methods
-Coordinates inbound drayage and delivery for imported products, as well as raw materials
-Fully functional in use of the transportation management system (TMS)
-Negotiates and approves spot rate agreements as needed for shipments
-Assist transportation manager in maintenance of rate databases & carrier selection
-Assist transportation manager in other functions, as assigned
-Provide rate quotations to sales team and customers
-Maintain up to date sales order database
-Provide paperwork and assist external warehouse locations on customer shipments routed through our carriers
-Records premium freight and supplier non-conformities
-Fill in for other departmental functions as needed
-Backup responsibilities for all bulk transportation customer shipments
-Perform monthly safety inspections and attend all mandatory safety training and meetings
-Returns management and customer complaints through Salesforce
-Maintain good relationship with all customers & key accounts
-Assist customers in resolving issues
-Keep designated sales person advised of their customer issues
Performance Criteria:
-On time shipment of all products in a cost-effective manner within budget guidelines
-Accuracy and timeliness of transportation carrier bookings, working knowledge of TMS
-Customer satisfaction in handling of communications & quality of service
-Timely resolution of customer issues
-Commercial team satisfied with internal sales and transportation support provided
The position is based on procedures for selection through TMS transportation suppliers, assisting the Transportation Manager with the selection of alternative supplier choices, meets with transportation suppliers with the Transportation Manager. While the position is based on a structured process, flexibility to handle special customer needs within the constraints of the local market for transportation services. This function is very important as it provides an opportunity to positively differentiate our company’s supply chain value from our competitors, and add utility to our products. All positions in Supply Chain have cross-functional responsibilities and serve as a backup to other supply chain positions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Knowledge/Education Required:
High School Graduate,Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
Skills:
-Excellent knowledge in all Microsoft Office and Google Products
-Good written and verbal communication skills and Exceptional interpersonal skills
-Flexibility to perform other departmental positions or special projects assigned
-Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Experiences:
-Prior customer service and export experience; Prior experience in transportation and/or logistics; -Experience in Microsoft AX and or SAP, and Princeton TMX

Managing multiple priorities, maintaining positive customer relationships under adverse situations, scheduling transportation to cover customer demands in a tight truck market.
