Start Date: Spring 2023
Schedule: Part time, 25-35 hours/week
Location: Remote

Who we are

DART is one of the largest faith-based community organizing networks in the country. We believe that fighting for racial and economic justice is fundamental to our identity as people of faith, and we know that successfully fighting for justice requires having power in the public arena. A few of our victories include:

  • Hundreds of millions of dollars invested in affordable housing
  • Implementation of fair discipline policies in hundreds of schools, breaking the school-to-prison pipeline
  • $950 million invested in public transportation
  • Criminal justice reforms resulting in 50,000 fewer arrests of children

We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate to join our team to coordinate in-person and virtual trainings for organizers and volunteer leaders.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Attend and coordinate logistics for in-person trainings & conferences, including meals, venue set up, A/V, hotels, etc.
  • Provide technical support for virtual trainings & events
  • Create materials for both in-person and virtual trainings

Essential skills and characteristics:

  • Core passion for justice and equity
  • Ability to travel 5-7 times each year for 3-4 days on average
  • Because our trainings are held primarily across the midwest, midsouth, and south, the Training and Events Coordinator must permanently reside within the Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zone of the United States.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Airtable, Adobe Suite, Canva, Zoom
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently on a remote team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Comfort working with diverse faith communities and a genuine respect for faith traditions of others
  • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet when faced with competing priorities

Ideal candidates will have relevant skills and experience (not necessarily in the non-profit arena), but we will consider entry level candidates with strong volunteer leadership.

The Training & Events Coordinator will be supervised by the Director of Leader Training, and will also work closely with the Director of Organizer Training.

DART organizations are diverse coalitions that include communities of color, low-to-moderate-income communities and immigrant communities. We strongly encourage people from these backgrounds, as well as fluent speakers of Spanish and Haitian Creole, to apply. DART is an equal opportunity employer.

Compensation and benefits:

This is a part-time position of 25-35 hours per week, with compensation of $20-25/hour, dependent on experience. Benefits include up to $500 per month for health insurance premium reimbursement, paid vacation, sick and parental leave, and 15% employer retirement contribution after 1 year.

The DART Center is fully committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and to attracting, retaining, developing, and promoting the most qualified employees without regard to their race, gender, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic prohibited by law. We are dedicated to providing a work environment free from discrimination and harassment, and where employees are treated with respect and dignity.
