- Works very independently under general supervision
- Supervisor available to handle unusual situations and periodically reviews work, but TRA is expected to work quite independently
- Executes protocols of routine and non-routine experiments
- Assists PI with determining the most suitable methodology
- Performs basic design and modification of protocols
- Calculates, transcribes and analyzes data
- Prepares and presents reports
- Maintains and orders supplies
- Perform a variety of routine tests following established methodologies
- Prepare and maintain tissue cultures
- Record data; summarize and analyze results using basic statistic
- Prepare lab reagents, chemicals, instruments and equipment
- May prepare radioactive and non-radioactive samples for lipid analysis
- May perform independent literature searches as directed
- May assist in the basic design and modification of protocols
- High degree of computer literacy
- Ability to work under very general supervision
- Sound analytical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data using statistics and logically present it
- Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot problems, as necessary
- BA or BS (required)
- Minimum one year of experience with mouse behaviors and molecular biology
- Demonstrated competence in research techniques and methodologies, such as mouse colony maintenance, PCR/genotyping, mouse brain sectioning, IHF/confocal imaging, cell culture, plate-based in vitro enzyme activity assay, DNA/protein electrophoresis and
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a coachable manner.
