Senior Professional Engineer

Job Summary: This is advanced professional engineering work reviewing complex permit applications.
Job duties include:
- Reviews the engineering portion of the larger and/or more complex applications for Environmental Resource Permits (ERPs) and Sovereign Submerged Lands (SSL). Provides assistance as needed in the review of Consumptive Use Permits (CUPs). Responsibilities include reviewing construction plans/drawings, calculations, data, legal documents and hydrologic modeling to determine if projects meet District criteria for water quality and flood protection; preparing technical staff reports and letters; conducting pre-application meetings including meeting to assist consultants in developing and completing their application through the design review process; coordinating the review of projects with other review team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting project actions, activities, and pertinent information in e-Reg; and communicating regularly with supervisor on projects of heightened concern.
- Reviews the engineering portion of the larger and/or more complex compliance and enforcement projects, to evaluate conformance with District rules and issued permits. Responsibilities include conducting periodic site inspections during and upon completion of project construction/implementation to monitor system conditions; evaluating compliance submittals; reviewing and evaluating monitoring reports; responding to complaints and public information requests pertaining to rule violations; facilitating resolutions to non-compliance issues; performing permit determinations; writing technical reports and enforcement actions; reviewing legal documents and coordinating with legal staff; coordinating with other compliance team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting compliance actions, activities, and pertinent information in e-Reg; and communicating regularly with the supervising engineer and compliance manager on compliance matters of heightened concern.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, registration by the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer, and one year subsequent experience in work directly related to the field in which the position is assigned.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering can substitute for the required experience.
Additional Details:
Salary Range: $77,126.40 - $100,256.00
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
