Safety and Technology Specialist

Full-Time – Non-Exempt Position

The Safety and Technology Specialist is a critical member of the ANDVSA team. This position provides technical assistance and support for technology/remote services to member programs and partners throughout the state.

Responsibilities:

  • In cooperation with the Advocacy Initiatives Director, strengthen and expand technology/rural remote mobile services in Alaska
  • Expand the range of Covid-19 mitigation efforts by providing training and technical support to DVSA programs, public health, and rural partners across the state to increase access to survivor services through mobile and on-line units
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional guidance to staff in DVSA programs and rural partners

Essential Functions:

  • Provide professional knowledge of technology solutions for providing services through web-based/mobile programs
  • Research emerging technology, technology policy, and victim safety/privacy topics.
  • Develop and drive execution of new technology initiatives and processes
  • Evaluate new and existing software products for opportunities of improvement and efficiency
  • Participate in project planning and identifies technical risks from end to end
  • Write and create materials, including training curriculum, handouts, app and website content, and multimedia projects
  • Provide training and education to member program staff and community partners in implementing web-based/mobile programs
  • Assist direct victim service programs in writing a technology plan
  • Communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats
  • Travel to rural/remote areas and works occasional weekend days and evenings
  • Handle support and technical inquiries
  • Handle multiple tasks, manages time, evaluates progress, and adjusts activities to complete tasks within established time frames while producing high-quality work
  • Demonstrate goal setting, problem solving, creative/analytic thinking skills, and organization skills

  • Present a professional demeanor through appearance, communication, and presentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years’ experience in developing/implementing computer programs or a relevant college degree in one of the following: Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Technology, Electronics
  • Must be able to relate positively to/work with persons who are diverse in age, ethnicity, socio-economic levels, beliefs, and lifestyles
  • Supports ANDVSA’s mission and vision
  • Two years’ experience training people to work with technology-computer literacy training, mobile devices
  • Experience with Virtual meeting/Distance platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Cisco Webex
  • Ability to work without direct day to day supervision
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years’ experience training people to work with technology-computer literacy training, mobile devices +2
  • Two years’ DVSA advocacy experience +2
  • Strong interest in technology, particularly new technology, and agility at learning new products and features +1

Supervision: Directly responsible to the Advocacy Initiatives Director

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (37.5 hours per week)

Location: Position can be done from remote locations in Alaska if there is access to internet and willingness to sign remote work agreement – Office located in Juneau.
