Regional & Over the Road Dispatcher Container/Port work
NorthStar Transport Services has an immediate opening for a Regional & OTR Dispatcher to join our growing team in our Davie, FL terminal. Location: Davie, FL. This is a full-time position for a dispathcer with Miami Container/Port experience.
Job description
1. Receive, enter, and dispatch orders promptly within established timelines, considering last free day, per diem and demurrage.
2. Respond to customer queries in a timely and accurate manner, via phone, email, text, or chat.
3. Update TMS with information required to report on loads, Port pick up dates, Arrivals and EQ returns.
4. Follow up on all deliveries and pickups to inform customers of all delays in a timely manner.
5. Use cell phone, text, office phone or computer to send drivers, vehicles, or other units to appropriate locations.
6. Provide all drivers under dispatch with information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements.
7. Monitor Drivers Hours of Service per DOT guidelines to ensure drivers are within legal limits of the available HOS per FMCSA guidelines.
8. Reconcile daily yard checks to reduce wait times and additional charges to both terminal expense and drivers.
9. Work with customer service to ensure customs, Steamship, and agent releases of cargo daily for following day’s dispatch.
10. Assist drivers with features and functionalities of Terminal Management System (TMS) and other company supplied equipment.
11. Ensure adherence to policies for attendance, established procedures etc.
12. Keep management informed on issues and problems that arise with customers and drivers.
Other Requirements: -
Strong communications skills, Bilingual (Spanish) a must, ability to work under pressure, good attendance required, be a team player.
Compensation commensurable with experience.
