Job Description:

Description: The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for performing technical and clerical duties associated with the care and treatment of patients.

Typical Duties:

  • Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.

  • Assists with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from injury or harm.

  • Obtains and records vital signs, I/O’s, weights, bedside testing, and documents in the patient record as directed by the license nurse.

  • Delivers and obtains items from other areas of the hospital as required..

  • Prepares and assists with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulating and transfers of patients.

  • Assists in monitoring adequate availability of equipment and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established accounts receivable levels..

  • Monitors patients with restraints or on suicide precautions and documents as directed.

Qualifications:


    Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
    • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment. .
  • Completion of Unit Specific Competency Based Orientation Program within the first 90 days of employment.
