Patient Account Representative/Patient Financial Counselor

We are seeking a competent, conscientious, service-oriented individual with strong character to join our Billing Department team at our Central Business Office located in the Feather Sound area of Clearwater. This individual will predominantly function as a Patient Account Representative performing patient account financial advising, counseling and collection functions and could cover other roles for the office. He/She will work under the direction of the Director of Billing.

Minimum Requirements:
High school graduate with 2 years of medical office experience, including at least 1 year in a specialty practice utilizing EMR/practice management systems. Must have the ability to multitask, take initiative, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Criminal background and drug screening required as well as excellent professional references.

Preferences:

Patient Accounts Representative, Patient Insurance Advisor, Patient Account Collections or Medical Billing experience.

Preference may be given to candidates meeting minimum requirements who have work experience from employers that emphasize excellent customer service (e.g. Publix, Disney, Chick-fil-A).

Some openings will require Spanish fluency.

Role:

  • Reviews patient assigned accounts and performs follow up on balances, which includes financial arrangements, account reviews, and refunds.
  • Review account balances to ensure appropriate billing activity has occurred to either a third-party payor, or guarantor.
  • Accurately updates Registration for demographic, insurance, referral information, and collections category.
  • Generate patient statements and final letters according to Gastro Florida policies and guidelines
  • Identifies and takes action towards resolution of problematic accounts through potential refunds, adjustments, payment transfers, etc. to bring account balance to zero.
  • Establish reasonable payment plans according to Gastro Florida policies; set up payment arrangement in system and monitor payments for consistency and timeliness.
  • Review overpaid accounts and prepare to process refunds, adjustments, payment/denial transfers, etc. to bring account to appropriate balance. All required refunds should be completed within 30 days of established credit balance.
  • Transfer/update accounts to outside collections agency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Billing.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
