Ridge Youth is part of Grace Blue Ridge Church in Hendersonville, NC. We are a youth group supporting 30-40 students and their families in 6th-12th grade. The Youth Ministry Intern is responsible for leading youth and family events at Grace Blue Ridge Church (GBR) and helping them embody the church mission statement, which is to Gather in an authentic community, Grow in a personal relationship with Jesus, and
Give Back in service to our community.
Grace Blue Ridge Church Internship – Summer 2023
Each summer, Grace Blue Ridge plans to offer paid internship(s) to college students interested in ministry. Students should have some experience leading bible studies and youth events.

Utilizing your unique abilities, our goal for our internships is to empower you as a leader, strengthen your walk with God, and sharpen your team-building skills.
Together with GBR’s full-time staff and volunteers, interns are leaders in camps, conferences, trips, vacation bible school (VBS), youth group, service opportunities, and events during the summer. This internship is an opportunity for you to deepen your faith, exercise and refine your talents, and gain valuable work experience. It is also an opportunity for you to discern if you are called to vocational ministry.
Who May Apply?
Any college student who has completed at least one year of college is welcome to apply for the youth ministry internship. This requirement is to provide for a more significant age gap between our high school youth and the intern. Graduating college seniors and graduate students are welcome to apply as well. High School graduates who have not attended college but are considering a career in ministry may apply.
GBR is looking for college-aged students actively growing in their faith.- Energetic, self-motivated, and creative. -Willing to do a variety of tasks from complex to mundane. - Skilled at relating to others, especially youth and children.
Youth Ministry Intern:
Compensation: $2,160 (12 weeks x 180)
Duration: 12 weeks May 22nd - August 11th
Interns may work more in some weeks than others depending on what is planned for the week. (Weeks involving camps, retreats, special events, or Vacation Bible School may require more time than weeks with regular programming.)
Internship Description:
Interns will assist the Director of Youth and Families and work with youth grades 6-12
The youth intern should plan to attend summer programming that includes a 5-day summer camp at Ridgehaven (June), leading Serve Hendo mission teams (Wednesdays 9-4), assisting in children’s ministry community outreach (Little Red School House, VBS, Fiesta), and collaborating with the Director of Ministry on other community projects, attending church and assisting with other Sunday classes and activities.
Weekly responsibilities for the youth intern will include but are not limited to, organizing and running a group event one evening each week (basketball, kickball, karaoke, games), helping lead Sunday School, facilitating fellowship events at the church and off-campus, and participating in relational ministry to foster friendships within our youth group, vision casting, program planning, budget management. Hours are flexible but Sunday mornings and serving as a chaperone for camp on June 12-16 are required.
Prepare and give at least two messages to students
The youth intern will organize an end-of-the-summer event, lead 2 recurring weekly events followed by Bible studies each week, and help organize weekly and special events.
Must have a means of transportation and pass a background check.
Attend all meetings: staff leadership meeting, youth planning meeting, youth leaders’ bible/book study
What We Will Do:
Pour into you by reading and discussing two assigned ministry-related books with the Youth and Family Director
Provide funding for you to participate in our activities and camps free of charge
Build you up as a leader and follower of Christ by getting to know you and being with you in the trenches of ministry
Give you the option to get a more behind-the-scenes look at different departments (creative arts, worship, tech, kids, etc.)
Provide you with one-on-one spiritual and leadership mentorship from the Youth and Family Director and/or Director of Ministry through regular meetings.
