GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under direct supervision, is responsible for learning and performing basic assignments covering the less involved operations in the construction, removal, reconstruction, and emergency operations of transmission and distribution of electrical power service. Reports to the Electric Supervisor.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learns and assists in the basic elements of operations such as installing, removing and maintaining poles, towers, guys, arms, platforms, and other components of line or equipment support.
- Learns and assists in the installation, removal, and maintenance of line conductors and cables.
- Learns and assists in the installation, removal, and maintenance of line equipment units and related devices such as transformers, switches, voltage regulators, constant current regulators, lightning arresters, cutouts and other equipment items.
- Learns and assists in installs, removes, and relocates services, entrance runs, meters, enclosures and self-contained watt hour meters.
- Performs related activities to include driving truck, operating winch or derrick, tree trimming, making minor repairs to trucks and equipment, etc.
- Ensures safe working conditions and abides by all safety procedures and regulations as established. Inspects all equipment and machinery to ensure proper working order.
- Performs routine mechanical operations, operating heavy equipment, etc.
- Sets out warning signs, clears work site of obstacles and digs holes or trenches for poles, anchors, or cable installation.
- Operates and utilizes various equipment and machinery including line trucks, bucket trucks, saws, trencher, digger, electrical and mechanical tools, hand tools, power tools, and general office supplies.

- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERlENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent with a Class "A" CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
