Citigroup Internal Audit provides independent assessments of the company's governance, risk management and internal control environment for key stakeholders including the Board of Directors, senior management and Citi’s numerous regulators globally. IA is a change agent within Citi aimed to enhance the control culture of Citigroup worldwide and thereby support senior management decision making around the globe.
A key aspect of the IA Data and Operations group’s responsibilities is to provide the IA organization with strategic direction, oversight and coordination of Data and Operational activities firmwide. Reporting to IA’s Federated Chief Data Officer (FCDO) – who is also IA’s Global Head of Operations – the IA Data Quality & Control Lead will work in coordination with the Enterprise Chief Data Office (ECDO) to drive implementation of IA’s data quality strategy and ecosystem (tools / processes), ensuring the accuracy, completeness, comprehensiveness, timeliness, and consistency of data across IA and support Citi's data transformation as a top strategic priority.
This highly visible role will also be responsible for the IA’s compliance with firmwide data governance policy and standards, implementation of data controls across the function, establishment and adoption of a data risk appetite within IA, and effective data risk identification, management, and reporting.
- Drive and implement IA’s data quality strategy, including necessary tools and processes, focusing on proactive/reactive data quality (i.e., identify/log/resolve issues promptly before/following their impact); and preventative data quality (i.e., prevent data quality issues)
- Coordinate, manage and drive data quality related projects including identifying business requirements, establishing priorities, tracking projects to completion and evaluating results
- Monitor and report on IA data quality (e.g., define/gather metrics, develop dashboards, deploy tools) as per the standards defined by ECDO and in line with IA’s requirements
- Provide subject matter expertise across training content, communication, and change management related to data quality initiatives within Internal Audit
- Adopt necessary, ECDO-defined data quality frameworks and standards; implement policies and procedures to ensure data quality practices are syndicated within IA
- Oversee the data quality issue/defect management process within the business unit and maintain repository of issues for monitoring and tracking data quality issues
- Ensure implementation of and compliance with Enterprise-wide Data Governance Policy and Standards within IA, developing IA-specific procedures as necessary
- Develop, refine and implement metrics to measure effectiveness and drive adoption of the Data Governance Policy and Standards.
- Drive adoption of data controls that will be applied to mitigate identified risks across the data lifecycle (e.g., capture/production, aggregation/processing, reporting/consumption)
- Prioritize and adopt/implement data risk controls to maximize data risk reduction within IA
- In partnership with the IA FCDO and Data PMO Lead, develop the org model for the IA Data Quality and Control function, and build associated resource estimates.
- 12+ years of overall business management experience in a complex, financial organization, with a focus on data quality and risk.
- Ability to execute large, complex change programs. Must be able to conceptualize and frame IA’s data requirements, combined with specific subject matter expertise regarding technology applications to support data, and design and deliver innovative solutions to meet these needs
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Effective negotiation skills, with a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
- Well-developed listening skills, and a strong ability to engage a group of accomplished leaders across Citigroup who are partners to Internal Audit with respect to its data transformation.
- An articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style to drive consensus and influence relationships at all levels.
- Strong coordination and project management skills, with ability to act independently and concurrently on a portfolio of high-quality deliverables in a fast-paced environment, under tight deadlines, with flexibility to prioritize workload accordingly. Must be able to succinctly summarize and communicate project progress and results.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills, with experience providing timely, high-quality insights to support ongoing activities.
- Sound judgment and strong leadership skills, with a proven track record in managing teams and making a positive impact on the organization.
- High level of proficiency with the MS Office Suite is essential.
- BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
