About the Position:
TJFACT is seeking to hire an experienced and highly qualified Graphics Design/IT Specialist to join our NNCO (National Nanotechnology Coordination Office) team in the Washington, DC area.
This individual will assist the NNCO Director and Deputy Director in producing and editing graphics (e.g., figures in reports, pamphlets, or stand-alone infographics) and multimedia (e.g., videos, podcasts) to share nanotechnology highlights and other informational materials.
Additionally, they will maintain and update the NNCO IT systems and to ensure that these systems operate reliably and with a high degree of security.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the NNCO Director, Deputy Director, and other contractor support staff or NNCO Fellows (e.g., scientists, communications specialists, and/or IT specialists) to brainstorm content, identify key messages, and revise media.
- Support mobile devices, hardware and software required for the day-to-day operations of the NNCO, its Director, Deputy Director, and staff, including printers, copiers, meeting room audiovisual technology, e-mail services, file management systems, and listservs for internal Federal groups and external stakeholder networks.
- Execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages, work with users to evaluate and define hardware and software needs, provide software and hardware familiarization as well as desktop and help desk support, manage third-party maintenance and support contracts for networks software and hardware equipment, and manage user accounts.
- Maintain and manage NNCO content on contracted cloud storage and network services, including file sharing and database websites for NNCO’s library of NNI reports, membership lists, documents, etc.
- Ensure that all NNCO equipment and software meets or exceeds all Federal government IT requirements for security and accessibility and shall coordinate with NSF's Division of Information Systems (DIS) as needed on any matters related to IT systems and services provided by NSF.
- Maintain and update, as needed, Nano.gov and to modify or add content in collaboration with the NNCO Director, Deputy Director, and other contractor staff or NNCO Fellows (e.g., communications specialists or scientists) as directed, ensuring that Nano.gov is in full compliance with all U.S. Government functional and security regulations for websites.
Required Skills and Experience:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in IT support with appropriate certificates or bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Minimum five (5) years’ IT resource development; hardware management, setup, administration, and training; Web, email, cloud, and internet services; Drupal web content management system; backup and disaster recovery methods; centralized anti-spam and anti-virus software; and inventory and asset management.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in graphic design and/or multimedia production.
- Knowledge of U.S. Government regulations for websites, hardware, and software to ensure compliance with these regulations.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills and exquisite attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and on collaborative teams.
