Job Title: Dietary Aide/ Food Service Worker

6:30am-2:30pm PT
10:30am-6:30pm PT or FT
3:30pm-6:45pm PT
Prepare, assembles and serves food to customers. Cleans dishes, pots, pans and maintains sanitary work surfaces and areas. Operates and cleans kitchen equipment.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
- Checks food for freshness. Washes ingredients and prepares items according to unit recipes.
- Assembles dishes attractively, using approved garnishes.
- Serves foods in correctly designated portions to customers in all dining areas.
- Utilizes kitchen equipment in a safe manner. Cleans and stores equipment after use.
- Checks and records food temperatures. Follows HACCP standards in handling and storing foods.
- Utilizes kitchen equipment in a safe manner. Cleans and stores equipment after use.
- Washes dishes, pots, pans and other items in accordance with sanitation standards.
- Approaches customers and others in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Practices personal cleanliness, wears clean uniforms and hair coverings as per department dress code.
- Demonstrates dependability in attendance and completion of job tasks.
- Attends meetings and training programs as required.
- Ensures foods are ready on time to meet service deadline.
- May assist in routine cleaning and storage of delivered food supplies.
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 6 months food service experience highly desirable.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, able to follow verbal and written direction.
- Ability to organize workloads and meet time deadlines.
- Courteous customer service attitude.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Lifting objects up to 40 lbs. (80%)
- Bending, reaching and grasping (90%)
- Walking short distances (70%)
- Exposure to high noise levels (90%)
- Exposure to high heat and humidity levels (50%)
- Standing for long periods on hard surfaces (30%)
- Pushing heavy, wheeled carts (20%)
Job Hazards include:
Burns, cuts, slips, falls and back sprains.
